This colorful, modern family comedy revolves around 10-year-old boy genius Henry James Herman (Jason Spevack) and his fervently left-wing single mother Patricia (Toni Collette), who works at the local university's cafeteria. A misfit from birth, Henry's precocious, rabble-rousing ways catch up with him when he gets kicked out of school for writing "Manifestos on the Nature of Truth."

Meanwhile, 12-year-old Audrey (Samantha Weinstein) has her own problems because of her single father, university professor Dr. Slavkin O'Hara (Michael Sheen), who used her as the test subject for his best-selling book Born Gay or Made that Way? Needless to say, she gets a not-so-nice nickname from her classmates. When Henry scores a scholarship to the university as a child prodigy, the two families cross paths and everything they knew about their lives is thrown to the wind.

Starring: Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine, The Sixth Sense), Michael Sheen (New Moon, Frost/Nixon, The Queen)

Over five billion years, life on Earth has evolved into the incredible richness and variety we see today. ONE LIFE is a celebration of the most brilliant and imaginative stories of survival from the animal kingdom. The story arc takes us through the full cycle of life to the birth of the next generation, but it also goes one step further - revealing that, whether we have wings or flippers, two legs or eight, the triumphant story of life connects us all. Finding food. Seeking shelter. Survival against all odds. Finding a soul mate. Raising children.

The themes of ONE LIFE are universal and will touch the hearts of audiences everywhere. Cutting-edge cinematic techniques capture unprecedented, astonishingly beautiful sequences. We'll see the depth of a mother's love through the octopus that gives up her life for her babies, and as snow monkeys shun outsiders from their hot springs, we'll be reminded of the uncomfortable inequalities that exist in many societies. Importantly, parallels with the human world will be sensitively drawn - never forced or overplayed.

Relevant, engaging but above all, amazing - this is ONE LIFE.

Ever since Clerks (co-winner of the Filmmakers Trophy at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival), Kevin Smith has been known for his sharp, subversive, comedic writing. He shifts from comedy to horror with RED STATE and aptly demonstrates that good writing transcends genre.

RED STATE begins by following three horny high-school boys who come across an online ad from an older woman looking for a gang-bang. Boys being boys, they hit the road to satisfy their libidinal urges. But what begins as a fantasy takes a dark turn as they come face-to-face with a terrifying "holy" force with a fatal agenda.

Instead of relying on archetypes and predictable formulas, Smith meticulously fashions all-too-real characters, utilizing exceptional performances (notably by Michael Parks) and an intelligent script. His realistic style fives the film an intimate feeling, heightening the terror to biblical proportions. Red State is a shocking new kind of horror film that aggressively confronts higher powers and extreme doctrines with a vengeance.

Starring: Michael Parks (Kill Bill 1 & 2, From Dusk Till Dawn), John Goodman (Evan Almighty, The Big Lebowski), Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Michael Angarano (The Forbidden Kingdom).

Written & Directed By: Kevin Smith, Produced By: Jon Gordon
